Wedding commission 2018

'For a Beekeeper'

A present for a significant birthday.

'So, my husband had a big birthday coming up and what to buy him ..... nothing he really needed. Then I glanced up at the Shauna Stanton painting we bought at an exhibition and perused her website. What about a commission?

One telephone conversation and many emails later, all conducted in secret and the result is the most fabulous painting. Totally unique and personal, Shauna has captured all of the special things in Gordon's life to create an utterly magical picture.

I am thrilled with the commission and would not hesitate to recommend Shauna. And my husband? Well, he was speechless and emotional. The best gift he has ever received'.

I welcome private commissions and would be delighted to speak to you if you have something in mind.

I have produced a variety of commissions for different occasions but the process that I go through is generally the same. I would normally give you a small plain notebook with the intention that you scribble down all the things that you might think relate to the subject matter.

For example, if it is for a person’s birthday you might want to include their favourite poem, piece of music, books that have influenced them etc. this helps me to build up a profile of the person I am producing the commission for. If you prefer you can email me this information.

First and foremost I stress that what you are getting is a piece of original art-work that is an interpretation of your brief and not a literal translation. This is a process of trust and assumes that the client already knows my work but wishes to have a piece that is particular to them. It is a great starting point for me and I love doing commissions for that reason.

I tend to email the client regular photo updates of the work in progress and if the finished work is not what was in mind then it is done on the agreement that there is not an absolute obligation to buy. This relieves the pressure on both parties although I am glad to say that so far it has never happened!

Price is dependent on size but is generally in line with my current paintings. Around A2 size would therefore be approximately £750. I can mount and frame the work for you for a nominal extra cost. Please see below for some of my recent commissions (as I respect that not all clients would wish them to be on the website it is not a complete collection).
